Tony and Karen Chavez never planned to start a pet care company, they simply wanted to take a vacation. With one senior dog who was blind and deaf and another with IVDD, leaving home seemed impossible. They couldn’t imagine trusting “just anyone” with pets needing medication, monitoring, and gentle care.
After three years of postponed trips, relief finally came when a veterinary technician from their dog’s rehab offered to help. For the first time, Tony and Karen traveled with peace of mind, knowing their pets were in capable, compassionate hands. That moment inspired VetterCare.
Drawing on more than 15 years in animal health, Karen now leads a dachshund rescue in Arizona, while Tony brings his business expertise and shared devotion to animals. Together, they built VetterCare, a trusted way for families to connect with skilled veterinary professionals who provide everything from joyful walks to post-surgical care, all from the comfort of home.
Today, their own home remains full of life with eight dachshunds and a 185-pound tortoise named Tank. Their mission is simple: to give pet parents the same peace they once found, knowing their animals are cared for with expertise, safety, and love.
